This kitchen underwent a stunning transformation! Previously weighed down by dark cabinetry and countertops, the space lacked natural light and felt heavy. By transitioning to a light and airy color palette, we completely revitalized the kitchen creating a bright, inviting, and cheerful atmosphere.

A common question we get from clients is whether removing a kitchen nook is “weird” or “bad for resale.” In reality, it’s a popular design choice that maximizes space and functionality. By replacing the nook with a long island, we create a more open and efficient layout—adding valuable storage with extended cabinetry while maintaining plenty of seating.
This project is a perfect example of how a well-designed island can enhance both workflow and gathering space. And if you have a dining room, you still have the option for a formal sit-down meal when needed.
While the layout remains familiar as it previously was designed, the upgraded cabinetry and elevated finishes have completely upgraded the space bringing both beauty and functionality to the heart of the home.
This home featured a popular original Westhaven layout, but our clients wanted more cabinet storage and expanded island seating instead of a traditional nook table. By reimagining the space, we created a more functional and open kitchen that perfectly suits their lifestyle.
